Phormium TricolourA splendid phormium that has broad grey-green leaves with a creamy yellow margin and then a fine band of red. The leaves are spreading and somewhat lax so it is much softer but no less dramatic than its spiky relatives. It has yellowish flowering panicles, which mature in late summer and reach over 1m in height.

Pittosporum Tom ThumbThis compact, rounded evergreen shrub is perfect for providing all-year foliage interest in a sunny, well-drained mixed border. While it sometimes produces honey-scented, dark-purple flowers in late spring and early summer, it's not a reliable flowerer so is normally planted for its year round foliage rather than its flowers. Protect from cold, drying winds.

Prunus Laur RotundifoliaDense, bushy, evergreen shrub with large glossy, dark green leaves. It makes an excellent hedging plant. It is extremely hardy and is an ideal due to its fast growth rate and year round cover. It can cope with deep shade under trees was well as full sun. Small white flowers are produced on spikes in mid-spring, followed by cherry red berries.

Prunus LusitanicaSimilar to the rotundifolia but slightly more elegant though not quite the same growth rate or as dense initially. It is conical in shape with dark green, lustrous elegant leaves. Syringia vulgarisDense clusters of fragrant, double, dark purple red flowers in May and June and heart shaped, dark green leaves. Viburnum opulusThis hardy, vigorous shrub is ideal for a woodland garden or shrub border.
